Yarn Wrapped Frame!

Give frames a soft, subtle texture by wrapping them in yarn.

You will need:
  • Frame
  • Pliers
  • Paint
  • Yarn (same color as paint)
  • Glue gun
  • Wreath (optional)

Find an old frame. Use pliers to remove all the staples. Remove the glass, backing and print.

Paint the front of the frame with several light coats of paint, following manufacturer directions. Let dry thoroughly.

Get out your yarn!

Dab a bit of glue onto the back of the frame. Immediately press the end of the yarn into the glue. Start winding the yarn around the frame.

Dab glue every four inches or so. Remember to check both sides of the frame to make sure the yarn has been wound evenly with no gaps or double layers.

I skipped winding the corners - this is why painting the frame is so important :-). Just wrap to the inner corner then switch to the next side of frame.

Glue the end of the yarn to the frame.

Decide how you'd like to use your frame. I added a wreath to the center.

This is a paper bag wreath. I used a wreath form (you can make your own out of pool noodles!) and the same method that was used to make Book Balls. Add ribbon.

Hang and center your frame on a nail. Use fishing line to hang the wreath from the same nail. It will look like it's floating in the center of frame.
